My Approach

My Approach

Therapy offers an opportunity to pause, take a breath from the demands of everyday life, and create space to understand what has been feeling difficult or overwhelming. It can be a place to slow things down, step out of survival mode and make sense of what is happening beneath the surface.

A personalised approach to therapy

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to psychological therapy. The work is shaped around the person in front of me - their experiences, circumstances, strengths, values and what they are hoping to understand or change.

I draw on evidence-based psychological therapies and perspectives, including Health Psychology, Existential Psychology and Positive Psychology, alongside clinical mindfulness, nervous system regulation and practical strategies that can support sustainable wellbeing. The approach is flexible and responsive, drawing on what is most relevant to each person rather than following a fixed formula.

Understanding what is happening beneath the surface

Together, we can explore the patterns that may be contributing to how you feel and respond. This can include thoughts, emotions, behaviours and physical responses, as well as the experiences, expectations and relationships that have shaped the way you navigate life.

Therapy is not only about understanding distress. It can also create space to explore strengths, values, identity, relationships, meaning and purpose - particularly during times of change, when old ways of living no longer feel right, or when life no longer feels quite as fulfilling as it once did.

The Alignment Approach™

These ideas inform The Alignment Approach™ — the psychological framework that guides the therapeutic work at Alignment Psychology.

At its heart, the approach is about developing greater awareness of the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, values, nervous system and behaviour. As this understanding develops, it can become easier to recognise longstanding patterns, pause before reacting and make choices that are more intentional and reflective of what matters to you.

Alignment is not about becoming someone different or getting everything right. It is about developing a deeper understanding of yourself and bringing greater awareness, emotional connection and intentional choice to how you live.

A space to pause and reconnect

Above all, therapy is a collaborative process. My aim is to provide a warm, calm and non-judgemental space where you feel genuinely heard, understood and respected.  Together, we can create space to slow things down, make sense of what is happening and explore what might help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
